The course will examine the nature and purpose of the firm and the determinants of its value, including particularly the impact of the policies and decisions of its Board and management. The practical application of selected modern theories concerning the operation of the core components of corporate financial policy, (those being the investment policy, dividend policy, and capital structure of the firm) will be reviewed. The practices employed in the execution of selected corporate transactions will be examined from the perspective of shareholder value creation. Current notable market situations will be reviewed and discussed as they unfold. And, classic and current papers by noteworthy financial academicians will be analysed.
